Vidan Dankovic

Mr Vidan Dankovic, has a proven track record in the field of construction related to accessibility of buildings/public spaces and in social inclusion of persons with disability and reduced mobility. He has participated in numerous projects related to improving access to public facilities for persons with disability and reduced mobility and produced accessibility audits and studies providing procedures and steps for developers, planners and managers of sites, and is thus fully familiar with social inclusion, anti-discrimination and engineering sector normative and institutional framework in Serbia. Among others, he was involved in the project “Accessibility for all” aiming at improving the implementation of local policies in the sphere of accessibility, when he co-authored the Special Report of the Ombudsman “Accessibility for all”, as well as in projects such as “Accessibility of the Belgrade Fortress with Kalemegdan Park” and “Accessible City”, aiming at improving accessibility of public areas and services of great interest for persons with difficulty in mobility. Vidan was also the team leader of the EU-funded project “Equal Opportunities”, where he was involved in strengthening capacities of CSOs in the formulation and adaptation of actual laws in practice, creation and analysis of public policies related to people with disabilities, and in the project “Raise the Ramp!”, where he provided trainings to architecture students on removal of architectural barriers. He has conducted trainings and workshops with CSOs, local authorities and professional organisations on accessibility throughout his career, prepared communication and visibility plans for projects in the field of construction and organised events and awareness raising campaigns. It is also highly relevant to stress that he is the initiator and one of the founders of the Accessibility Audit Association in Serbia – URP, a non-profit organisation that provides support to experts in the field of accessibility, and is a member of numerous organisations: ECA/EuCAN - European Concept for Accessibility Network, Ombudsman Council for the Disability Issue and Award Committee for the development of all forms of accessibility in Serbia.
